Commentary – Why fall is my favourite season

“I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.” – Anne of Green Gables.

I look forward to fall every year and here are some reasons why fall is my favourite season:

There are many things to love about summer, but the one reason I have grown not so fond of it is because the humidity makes my hair frizz up.

Every time I straighten my hair during the summer it always turns into a waste of time because as soon as I step out the door, my hair gets frizzy.

I usually just end up rocking a ponytail all summer so it’s out of my way and I don’t have to deal with how frizzy it gets.

But it has become all the more reason to love fall because the humidity dies down which means I can actually fix my hair and not have it be a waste of time.

My favourite type of outfit to wear is one that consists of leggings, a sweater, a scarf, and a pair of my extremely cute boots.

The only time that is comfortable weather to wear an outfit like this is during the fall.

And of course, the country girl in me also cherishes an outfit consisting of her boots, a pair of jeans, and a comfortable flannel shirt.

I honestly probably get a little too excited when it finally comes time to break out my fall wardrobe.

How can one not love how beautiful it is when the leaves change from green to hues of red, orange, and yellow?

It honestly amazes me how the fact that the leaves are changing and falling off the trees because they are dying can still be one of the most beautiful sights to see in nature.

I think it is because God didn’t intend for death to be a scary thing, it’s a part of life and life is beautiful.

My favourite way to see the beauty of autumn is to drive on a country road with the sun shining through the trees.

No picture can fully give the beauty of the autumn views I see while driving along the road justice.

My favourite thing to do when I need to clear my head is to take a walk.

I love walking around town, Slave Lake is surrounded by woods so there’s plenty of walking trails I like to explore. Fall is a perfect time to take a walk because it’s not as hot and humid so I can actually enjoy the walk without the sweaty feeling I have afterward in the summer.

Pumpkin pie blizzard need I say any more?

I am such a lover of pumpkin pie and this is my favourite Dairy Queen blizzard, but the only time it is ever available is during fall.

So I always make it a priority to get at least one before they are no longer available and I have to wait another whole year to get another one.

Plus, it’s a perfect little outing with friends celebrating the return of fall.

And last but not least Thanksgiving has come to be one of my favourite holidays simply because I get to spend a whole weekend just being home with my family, eat lots and I mean lots of yummy food such as turkey and mash potatoes
