Georgia Dubois
FCSS Director

As we bid farewell to our Youth Programmer Colby Robbins, we thank her for three years of amazing programs that were offered to our youth in the Smoky River region.

We all wish her luck on her future endeavours!

I would like to introduce our new Youth/Family Programmer to the region, please enjoy reading her biography and we do look forward to the many programs that she will have available for the residents of the region for many years to come.

Please stop by the office and welcome Crystal Marschner.

Hi, bonjour!

My name is Crystal Marschner and I have just recently started at Smoky River FCSS as the Family and Youth Program Coordinator.

I grew up in the Slave Lake area and have recently moved to this incredible region.

I am a proud mother of three boys, who have made me who I am today.

In the past, I have worked for the Parent Link Center in Slave Lake. Those five years provided me with a rich background of working with families.

I most recently worked as the Executive Director for the Boys and Girls Club of Slave Lake.

Through that position I gained a greater knowledge for working with youth first hand.

In my spare time I have sat on the board of the Sharks Swim Club, as well as managed my sons hockey teams, and was an advocate for Victim Services.

I am excited to immerse myself into this position and help bring new and exciting programs to the families of Falher.

Currently the programs I am offering are: Roots of Empathy, I am offering this program to the Grade 1 and 6 English classes at Routhier; Power of Positive Parenting (Triple P) for families with children of all ages as well as families with children who have a disability, with my training I can offer an eight-week group program, a four-week individual program for families in need, as well as offer seminars and discussion groups in an evening session for parents; Kids Have Stress Too, which teaches the children what stress is, what it looks like and how to manage it in appropriate ways; and Anger Management for adults who want to learn how to recognize and manage their anger.

I will be receiving training in the Babysitting course, Home Alone Safe as well as the Healthy Teen Relationships course.

As an FCSS staff member, I also provide out of town day trips for youth, supportive listening as well as referrals to other community organizations for additional resources.

When I am not out providing the various programming I may be found in the FCSS office Monday-Friday 8:30-4:30.

Stay tuned for future articles to learn more about each individual program!
