Myrna Lanctot elected as Mayor and Vance Yaremko as Deputy Mayor.
Regular meetings to remain every third Monday of the month.
Committee appointments are as follows:
. Emergency Management Committee – Councillor Olsen and Stenhouse.
. Heart River Housing – Mayor Lanctot.
. Smoky River Community Education Committee – Councillor Olsen.
. Smoky River Regional Council Committee – Mayor Lanctot and Councillor Stenhouse along with CAO.
. Smoky River Regional Economic Development – Deputy Mayor Yaremko.
. Alberta Bilingual Municipal Association – Representative Guy Beaudoin and Mayor Lanctot as alternate.
. Smoky River Regional Physician Recruitment and Retention – Councillor Labrecque.
. Smoky River Regional Water Commission and Smoky River Regional Waste Commission – Deputy Mayor Yaremko and Councillor Olsen.
. Donnelly Recreation Society – Councillor Stenhouse and CAO.
. Guy Donnelly Sportex Society – Councillor Stenhouse.
Regular meeting called to order at 8:16 p.m.
Council received as information the Green House Gas Emission report completed by Blue Source through Alberta Bilingual Municipal Association.
Council will review the survey results further at a strategic plan meeting. Council wishes to thank the ratepayers for their participation in the survey, their feedback is very important.
ATCO Street light will be tabled, in order to gather further information.
Demolition of the old Henra’s Bigway building is now complete.
Council will subscribe to AltaLIS for a three-year term, while working on the Municipal Asset Management Plan. Due to the hour, the remaining items tabled to a special meeting on October 17, 2017 and meeting was adjourned at 10:25 p.m.

ATCO Electric Franchise Fee rate will not change for 2018, however council will review this topic as part of the Strategic Plan.
As part of the Municipal Government Act mandate, council will allow councillors to attend the MUNIS 101 training in Peace River, Grande Prairie or Manning and the Valleyview session put on by M.D. of Greenview.
Council in discussion with the M.D. of Smoky River #130 have chosen a new location to house the recycle bins. Watch for the posters in the near future.
Two dog complaints were received as information, one poplar tree concern which council will reply to in a letter.
