Physician Recruitment House
Council has sent their recommendation to the Smoky River Regional Recruitment and Retention Board and the other 4 municipalities on this issue.
Council Code of Conduct Bylaw was given all 3 readings. With the new Council Code of Conduct bylaw passed, the Council Code of Conduct Policy #42A was repealed.
Public Notification Bylaw #18-03 was given first reading. At the June 18th, 2018 regular meeting, council scheduled the Public Hearing to be July 30th, 2018 at 7:00 pm in Council Chambers. The public hearing is to have an open dialogue with the public, prior to passing second reading.
Asset Management Vision, Mission and Policy will be drafted and brought back for review at a future meeting.
Viola Marcoux was appointed as the Clerk of the Subdivision and Development Appeal Board.
The Subdivision and Development Appeal Board Bylaw and the Fire Department Bylaw were tabled due to the hour.
June 18, 2018 meeting summary
Jackie Hockey and Rita Boulet made a presentation to council on the Falher Intermunicipal Library Agreement, their bylaw and policy changes, along with the CFEP grant application. They request a letter of support for the grant, from the Village.
Smoky River Regional Economic Development – Priorities or opt out
Council moved to send a letter to the Smoky River Regional Economic Development Board to give feedback on what Donnelly Council would like to see as future priorities.
Unsightly/Dilapidated Trailer
Council will proceed to get a court order to have the trailer located at 5511-5th Street removed, as it is a hazard.
Tax Recovery
Two properties will begin the tax recovery process, and a reserve bid for each one has been set by council. Announcement for the upcoming auction will be in the Alberta Gazette and the Smoky River Express in the near future.
FCM Special Advocacy Fund
Council approved their contribution to the Federation of Canadian Municipalities “Special Advocacy Fund” request of $100.00. This fund will help FCM lobby all political parties for the following initiatives: – Investing in Canada Infrastructure plan – a 12 year $180 billion federal investment from public transit to wastewater system upgrades;
– predictable federal allocation model;
– national housing strategy;
– high-speed broadband;
– rural and northern infrastructure fund.
AUMA Convention
Council will register 3 councillors to attend the Alberta Urban Municipal Association Convention in September.
Falher Intermunicipal Library
Council has agreed to renew the Intermunicipal Library agreement for another 3 years. The agreement will see the appropriation remain the same and the funding split between both the Falher and McLennan libraries.
Council also reviewed the amendments to the Libraries bylaws and polices. Council has also agreed to send a letter of support for the CFEP grant application to make the building more usable space and handicap friendly.

Council has sent their recommendation to the Smoky River Regional Recruitment and Retention Coordinator and the other 4 municipalities on this issue.
Subdivision & Development Appeal Board Bylaw #18-04
Council gave all three readings to the Subdivision & Development Appeal Board Bylaw #18-04.
Next regular meeting has been rescheduled to July 30th, 2018 after the Public Hearing is adjourned.
For your information, the office hours trial has been extended to include July 1- 31st. The hours will remain from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm and closed over the lunch hour 12 noon to 1:00 pm.
