Village of Donnelly council meeting May 21, 2019 summary

Smoky River Regional Economic Development
A 3-year municipal agreement was accepted by council.
This 3-year agreement will commit the Village of Donnelly to a 3-year budget with the Smoky River Regional Economic Development and the other 4 municipalities.
Council approved that Mayor Lanctot attend a meeting in Edmonton with other representative from the area and the Smoky River Regional Economic Development Coordinator, Diane Chiasson and a potential entrepreneur.

Budget
Council approved the 2019 budget with operating expenses of $788,504, and a requisition of $304,889.
This increased the mill rates by 6%.
Residential mill rate in 2018 was 8.7096 in 2019 will be 9.3627, an increase of .6531 mills.
Non-residential mill rate in 2018 was 12.85356 in 2019 will be 13.50666, an increase of .6531 mills.
The minimum tax was also increased from $1300 to $1,375, approximately 6% increase.

AUMA’s Summer 2019 Municipal Leaders’ Caucus
Council approved the Mayor to attend the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association (AUMA) Summer Municipal Leaders’ Caucus in Valleyview on June 5, 2019.

MuniSight Municipal Asset Management Software
Council has approved entering into an agreement with the municipalities of M.D. of Smoky River #130, Towns of Falher and McLennan and the Village of Girouxville, to purchase the MuniSight Asset Management Software.
This will support the work already undertaken in Municipal Asset Management.

Letter of Support Guy Donnelly Sportex CFEP Grant Application
Council ratified the decision to send a letter of support to the Guy Donnelly Sportex on their Community Facility Enhancement Program (CFEP) grant application to upgrade the lights and install a badminton court flooring.

Honey Festival Parade (100th Anniversary)
Council will participate in the parade, and wish the Town of Falher all a successful Honey Festival and 100th Anniversary Celebration.

Open House – Bi-election
Council will hold a MEET AND GREET for residents to meet the 3 candidates vying for the 1 councillor position.
The event will take place on Thursday June 6, 2019 at 7:30 pm in Council Chambers, located at 5003-3rd Street.
Come out and meet the 3 candidates, prior to our election on June 10, 2019.
The Polling Station will open at 10:00 am and close at 8:00 pm.
Council will also be holding an Open House to receive information from residents on the upcoming Intermunicipal Development Plan.
