Council held an open house to discuss with residents the Public Notification Bylaw.

There were no residents that attended, and the public meeting was adjourned at 7:15 p.m.

ATCO Red Flag Power Pole
The power poles flagged by ATCO Electric for repair/replacement had been approved to be done at a previous meeting.
Council had motioned to have MSI Capital cover this expense, however this work did not meet MSI Capital criteria. Therefore, the cost will be paid from reserves.

ALL-Net Communication
Council is interested in participating in a regional project to purchase a software that will help to keep residents informed on urgent and important issues.
The software called All-Net Communication will allow the Village staff to be able to send text, voice message, mass e-mail, and social media messages.
Due to the low population in the region, we can partner with the other municipalities that are interested.

CCTV – Sewer Camera
Council approved the project to contract a company to camera the sewer lines and manholes to determine what their condition are. This is inline with the Municipal Government’s mandate of municipal asset management planning.

Heart River Housing 3 year Business Plan
Council will send a letter to Heart River Housing stating that council is in support of their 3 year business plan.

Rain Storm – Lift Station
Council received information on the lift station performance during the July 20th, 2018 heavy rain storm. Council has directed administration to contract an engineer firm to review the lift station’s performance.

Speed Scentry Analysis
Council received as information the results of the speed scentry data collected between May & June.

Policy #6 Hours of Work – Office Staff
Council approved that the office be open to the public from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm and closed for lunch 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m., from Tuesday to Friday. This will be effective August 1st, 2018.

Policy #31 Council Remuneration
Council has increased their honorarium retro-active to January 1st, to offset the federal governments ruling to remove the 1/3 tax exemption on honorariums.
The rate will increase by $10 for a meeting up to 4 hours and for a meeting over 4 hours the increase will be $20.

Alcohol and Substance Abuse Policy
Council passed a new alcohol and substance abuse policy.

Public Notification Bylaw #18-03
The Public Notification Bylaw #18-03 was given second and third reading at the meeting, and is passed.
Next regular meeting will be Aug. 20th, 2018.
