The Club D’age D’or at Villa Beausejour held its annual three-day Garage Sale fundraiser on May 26, 27, and 28.

Club D’age D’or (Golden Age Club) is a registered society, which allows it to raise funds through casino every three or four years. It also engages in other initiatives such as the annual garage sale to raise additional funds to acquire equipment for the upkeep of the grounds or that enhance the quality of life for the residents.

“Last year funds were used to purchase a little rototiller,” says Villa Beausejour activity director, Leas Roby. “The casino funds usually go towards the van expenses; gas and tiers and an inspection twice a year. Because the club owns the van, it pays for the upkeep.”

Everything at the garage sale is donated by family members of Villa residents and by the community. When the three-day garage sale is over remaining items are either stored for the following year, or donated forward to other organizations. For example, in one instance remaining blankets and comforters went to the women’s shelter in Peace River.
