The Town of McLennan Council received a development permit application to establish a used car dealership on a site at the east entrance of McLennan across the highway from the RCMP building.

The applicant, Mr. Maher Abdel-Malak is anticipating a maximum of 50 vehicles on the site at any one time with an initial inventory of 13 vehicles ranging in year from 2003 to 2009.

The lot is not for storage as all vehicles on site will be road-worthy, certified and ready for immediate sale.

At this time, there will be no office at the McLennan location, as Mr. Maher will conduct sales transactions online or at his mechanic shop and office in Donnelly.

The proposed lot is 300 ft. long and 100 ft. wide with a full-boarded chain link fence on 2 sides and on a portion of another, so the lot will not be visible from residential properties in the area.

Access to the dealership will be from Range Rd 193A.

McLennan & District Chamber of Commerce members, Daniel Labrecque, Avis Gagne and Danielle Drouin met with the McLennan Town Council on September 12, 2016 to show their support for Maher’s business proposal.

McLennan Town Council has not made a final decision on the development permit application as Council has requested legal advice prior to making its decision.

In the event that his application is approved, Mr. Maher Abdel-Malak intends to develop the site as soon as possible.
