A few children from the Smoky River region had their teddy bears and/or favourite stuffies receive some tender loving care at a Teddy Bear triage July 20 at the Sacred Heart Health Centre Ambulance Station. Broken bones, a broken tail, and “just not feeling well” were some of the problems medical staff death with. The triage was meant to alleviate fears children may have if needing the service. Smoky River Family and Community Support Services hosted the triage and used role-play activity to help children understand and overcome fears about medical environments. Children especially enjoyed operating the stretcher and visiting inside an ambulance.
