SPORTS – Taekwondo competitors bring home medals from Whitecourt

Ten athletes from the Smoky River Road Warriors Taekwondo Club competed in the 26th Annual Whitecourt Taekwondo Championship, held at the Jean and Allen Millar Centre in Whitecourt on Jan. 30.

Athletes can compete in both Forms and Sparring and here are some of the results. The medal winners were:

. Reid Turnquist (six-year-old boys White Belt) Silver in both events;
. Hayden Labrecque (six-year-old Boys Yellow Belt) Silver in Forms, Bronze in Sparring;
. Hailey Labrecque (six-year-old girls Yellow Belt) Bronze in both events;
. Suzan Kocherla (10-12 years Yellow Belt) Bronze in both events;
. Dylan Garant (8-9 years Green Belt) Bronze in forms, Gold in Sparring;
. Riley Garant (10-12 years Green Belt) Bronze in forms, Gold in Sparring;
. Sabrina Lambert (14-15 years Girls Greenbelt) Bronze in both;
. Damon Labrecque (eight years Red Stripe Belt) Silver in Sparring;
. Wade Brulotte (Adult Male Black Belt) Bronze in Forms;
. Matt Bolduc (Adult Male Blue Belt) Gold in Forms.

Also, Monique Brulotte, Wade Brulotte and Alain Johnson assisted the championship as officials for the day.
