Société Historique Et Généalogique de Smoky River in Donnelly began its summer schedule on July 3 and is now open from 9.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday until the end of August.
The Society’s summer staff member, Shayna Yaremko, also took up her position on July 3. Shayna, who lives in Donnelly, has just completed her Grade 11 at G.P. Vanier and will be returning for her final year of high school in the fall.
While she will be involved with a number of tasks and projects working over the summer, according to the Genealogical Society president Carmen Ewing, Shayna’s main project will be the digitization of 6,000 photographs.
This is Shayna’s first year working at the Genealogical Society and she says she is looking forward to becoming familiar with the work the society does.
