Melanie Blanchette
Youth Program Coordinator
Smoky River FCSS is proudly offering a summer youth program throughout the months of July and August.
This program is made available for children ages 6-12. The program runs Monday through Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and is only $50 per week. The fee includes transportation, all activities as well as a snack and lunch that we provide every Thursday.
Each week will be hosted in Donnelly, Falher, McLennan or Girouxville. There will be an exciting new theme for each week of the program in hopes to spike every child’s interest.
The summer youth program gives all children the opportunity to be active, meet new friends and most importantly have fun during the summer months. There will be crafts, outdoor activities, games, field trips and so many more exciting things that will take place every week.
All children are welcome, however, there is a maximum of 15 spots available therefore register now to avoid disappointment!
We also have two horse programs this summer. The first horse program will be for children ages 6-12 and will take place July 22. The horse program is a one day trip to Northbase Ranch and will consist of crafts, pony rides, nature walk, petting zoo and a scavenger hunt. The cost for this program is $50 which includes all activities listed above as well as a lunch and snack that will be provided.
The second horse program will take place Aug. 19 and will be offered to children ages 10-15. This program is a day trip to EC Bar Ranch and will consist of a trail ride, corn maze, giant slip and slide, bail maze and a craft. The cost for this program is $75 which includes all activities mentioned, transportation, as well as a snack and lunch that will be provided.
I, Melanie Blanchette, am very excited to be the summer youth program coordinator again this summer. Since I had such a blast with the kids last year, I knew I had to come back again this summer. I have just completed my third year in the elementary education degree therefore working with kids is my passion. I look forward to implementing new ideas and making this summer even better than the last.
I hope to help children develop self esteem, leadership skills, as well as social skills. I look forward to seeing familiar faces return to our program as well as to meet new children in the community!
We would like to thank our municipal funders the Municipal District of Smoky River No. 130, Town of McLennan, Town of Falher, Village of Donnelly and the Village of Girouxville for making the summer youth program possible.
There is also subsidy available which is kept entirely confidential. Please email Georgia Dubois at srfcss@live.ca if this is something of interest.
Our goal is to have every youth have access to this amazing summer program and that money should not be a barrier.
