There was a chill in the evening air, but it was ideal for the second annual live Nativity Scene at the Gazebo in the parking by Falher IGA.

The event was held on December 20, with Tony Smit as the narrator and the Northern Lights Choir joining in with songs like ‘Silent Night’ throughout the storytelling.

Smit read from the Old Testament, including Luke Chapters 1 and 2, and Matthew 2:11-12.

“We’re just reminding people of the meaning of Christmas,” says Smit, adding that it’s good for the children to interact together.

Children played angels and shepherds, with Jalil Levesque and Anya Smit playing the lead roles of Joseph and Mary.

Smoky River FCSS was on hand with hot chocolate and cookies, and they took donations for stuffed Teddy Bears.

Eric Verstappen provided the donkey and sheep for the event.
