Smoky River Midgets team wins against the Manning Comets 3-1

In the third period, Jonah Maisonneuve scored the SRMHA Midgets’ third goal.

The SRMHA Midgets hosted the Manning Comets in the evening of Feb. 2 and were victorious, winning 3-1.

Dane Gall had a breakaway opportunity at the seven-minute mark of the first period, taking the puck down the ice and putting it in the basement. Jordon Sylvain assisted on the play.

Less than 15 seconds later, Paul Dubois scored the team’s second goal, with assistance from Kelly Dion and Joshua Fischer.

Then, less than a minute later, it was the Comets’ turn. Donovan Demeester shot the puck into the living room, with Mason Rever and Tom Pawluski assisting.

Nonetheless, the SRMHA Midgets led 2-1 at the end of the first period.

The battled continued in the second period, but neither team managed to score. The SRMHA Midgets had a two-man advantage near the six-minute mark and they made several attacks on the Comets’ net, but they were thwarted.

Play seesawed for most of the third period, with some close scoring opportunities for both teams, but no goals.

However, at 15:47, during five-on-three, Jonah Maisonneuve scored the insurance goal for the SRMHA Midgets, with Kelly Dion assisting.

The SRMHA Midgets won the game by a score of 3-1. Shots on goal for the game were 61-22 in favour of the Midgets.
