Smoky River Fire and Rescue responded to nine medical calls, four monitored alarms, five outdoor fires and two motor vehicle collisions in April.

This was part of Smoky River fire chief Marcel Maure’s report to the M.D. council in May. The fire chief also notes the fire department held four training sessions in April, with 16-25 volunteer firefighters attending each.

Three members have been certified to operate the fire department’s Unmanned Aerial Vehicle. However, he still needs to get the permit from Transport Canada to operate it.

The fire department purchased a used fire truck, which will be used for wildland fires, and it’s ready to enter service.

See the May 18 edition of the Smoky River Express for photos of the new truck.
