Fire chief Marcel Maure gave his report to the M.D. council on Oct. 12.
Smoky River Fire and Rescue received 15 calls for service during September, and they are broken down as follows:
. Five medical calls.
. Six monitored alarms.
. Two outdoor fires.
. Two STARS landings.
Smoky River Fire and Rescue participated in two school Terry Fox Runs on Sept. 29, providing escort service for students. Ecole Heritage held theirs in Falher in the morning, while Ecole Routhier and Georges P. Vanier held theirs in and around the Hamlet of Guy.
Maure and selected firefighters participated in a three-day preparedness, train-the-trainer training program. It will be brought to the communities later.
Smoky River Fire and Rescue participated in emergency operations centre training with the Alberta Emergency Management Agency, for personnel development.
