SPORTS – Smoky River Minor Hockey teams do well at recent tournaments in Peace region

The Rocky Mountain Equipment Atom Pirates won gold at the Peace River Tier 3 tournament during the weekend of Jan. 9-10. They played a total of four games and were undefeated in the tournament. The kids played very well and it was a great team effort. The team is gearing up to finish their league games and to start playoffs in February. In the front row, right to left, are Adrian Smit, Austin Willier, Logan Labbe, Cameron Deslaurier, Aiden Hicks, and Brandon Guenette. In the middle row are Parker St. Laurent, Alix Maisonneuve, Danika Aubin and Jude Sylvain. In the back row are Marc Lemay, Henco Smit, Denis Bouchard and Cole Fournier. The bench staff consists of Jean Sylvain, Rick Lemay and Dan Aubin.

Not shown are Cruze Henley and Ian Hicks, along with coaches Mark Fournier, Jason Bouchard and Eric Blanchette. They played at a tournament in Clairmont Jan. 9 and won all their games.

In the picture at left, the pee wee team played in the Wembley tournament during Jan. 8-10. They made it to the consolation final and played against Hay River. They won the game by a score of 9-2 and received toques for their efforts.
