The Falher Pirates are ending the year on a high note, as they won back-to-back games last week.
They hosted the Grimshaw Huskies on Dec. 15 and won the game 4-2.
“It was a good game overall,” says coach Shawn Gervais.
“Our lines are finally starting to click. We came to play. The team is going through adversity and it’s a tough part of the season. But we have good character and I can see us getting through it.”
However, the Huskies dominated the first period. Corson Fairless scored at 11:54, with Kyle Smith and Chris Houlder assisting. Then Izaak Hudson scored a power play goal at 13:10. Tyrin Weibe and Brendan Hawryluk received the assists.
But Al Anderson put the Pirates on the board with just 40 seconds remaining in the period. Craig Anderson and Pat Rowan collected the assists.
The Pirates also dominated the remainder of the game. Craig Anderson scored the first of three power play goals at 3:54, and Pat Rowan and Craig Anderson assisted.
Chuck Alain scored the next power play goal at 6:19. Lawrence Anderson and Dallas Brochu assisted. Then Craig Anderson scored the PPG at 16:27, with Chuck Alain and Pat Rowan sharing the spotlight.
Despite the Huskies’ extra attacker scenario in the last minute of play in the third period, the Pirates held on to win the game 4-2.
The Pirates also won on the road on Dec. 17, against the Manning Comets by a score of 5-0.
The Pirates’ next home game will be on Jan. 2, 2016, against the Comets.
