With excellent weather on both days, the Smoky River Open golf tournament was well attended with 42 players taking part in the event.

The two-day, “Smoky River Open” golf tournament was held on July 9 and 10.
The event, having excellent weather on both days was well attended by family and friends of the forty-two players who participated in the tournament.
The clubhouse was busy throughout the event, serving food and refreshments and the atmosphere during the prize presentations was spirited and good fun.
The Smoky River Open golf tournament has been running for approximately 32 years.
The winners of the Men’s Championship Flight were First: Earl Ominiyak 156 – Second: Denis Turcotte 158 – Third: Darryl Laboucan Jr. 164.
The winners of the Ladies Championship Flight were First: Joanne Bekevich 176 – Second: Hazel Laboucan 196 – Third: Sharon Laboucan 198.
The Smoky River Regional is a 9-hole golf course challenging to the advanced, intermediate and novice player.
The golf course, which also has a driving range, attracts many visitors travelling through the region and is in a perfect location for the vacationing golfer looking for variety as it is close to the Heart River Golf Club in Nampa and High Prairie and Area Golf Club, on Highway 2.
The McLennan golf course is situated on Bousfield Avenue across the road from the Municipal Campground. A round of golf costs $15 and a double round of 18 holes is $25.
The par 36 course is open May to September.
