The Smoky River Dance Society’s 2016/17 season is in full swing.

Seventy children are enrolled with the dance society, and lessons are being held in the small gym at Ecole Routhier in Falher, as well as at Ecole Providence in McLennan.

“We’re happy with the enrolment and the continued support by the communities and parents,” says director Carolyn Giroux.

The season started October 3 and goes through the end of April next year.

There are 12 groups, ranging from Creative Movement to Senior Modern Jazz. New this year is the Boyz Crew.

Brogan Severson is the instructor for the lyrical, musical theatre and jazz students. Alysia Sharpe is the ballet instructor.

A new dance floor has been added for the small gym at Ecole Routhier. All classes are held there, except for the Boyz Crew and make up classes, which are held at Ecole Providence in McLennan.

The dance society has tentatively planned a Christmas performance for the Villa Beausejour in Falher in early December. The dance society also plans to attend festivals in Dawson Creek, Peace River and Westlock.

The season will wrap up with a recital at Georges P. Vanier, beginning at 2 p.m. on April 23, 2017.
