This year’s Twilight Figure Skating Club annual season-end carnival, “Winter Wonderland Showcase,” was held at the H.W. Fish Arena in McLennan on Feb. 23.
For Twilight skaters, the carnival provides an opportunity to exhibit the skills they acquired through discipline and hard work during the season.
The annual carnival is Twilight’s primary fundraiser and an impressive crowd turned out to support the club and enjoy the stellar performances.
Approximately 18 skaters took part in the “Winter Wonderland Showcase”, along with guest skaters Annika Behnke and Kole Suave [pre-novice pairs long program], Nathanial Reid [Star 5 free-skate] and Janelle Beaudoin [Star 5 Artistic]. Behnke, Reid and Beaudoin are members of the Peace River Skating Club and Cole Sauve is a member of Grande Prairie Skating Club.
The event also featured a food concession, flower sales, a 50/50 raffle and a draw for numerous donated items.
The current coaches with Twilight Figure Skating Club are Jacquie Melnyk and Michelle Pitre, both senior coaches and Nicole Richmond, preskate coach.
The skaters who received this year’s awards were Victoria Carley [Preskate]; Emma Shustual [Can Skate]; Annabelle Morin [Stepping]; and Janelle Lanctot [Star Skate].
