Albert and Jean Lemire, the former owners of the Falher IGA, received accolades from the new owners on Nov. 12, which was also the day a grand re-opening was held for the store.
John Nicolet, a new co-owner in the store, gave some history about the location. He also emphasized the importance of supporting local businesses.
Gary Doran, another co-owner, said they bought the store because of the excellent staff.
Craig Wilson, the director of operations for IGA in B.C. and Alberta, brought greetings on behalf of the company. He also congratulated the Lemires on their retirement.
Mayor Donna Buchinski brought greetings on behalf of council. She also commended the Lemires for their ownership of the store.
The Lemires owned the Falher IGA for 22 years. Jean Lemire is pleased the store will remain in local hands and is proud of the staff for their work.
A ribbon cutting was held as part of the event.
