The New Horizon Co-op in Falher and the company’s stores throughout the region are hosting their annual ‘Good Buy to Hunger’ food drive.

Given that the Christmas season is upon us, this store is encouraging customers to buy ‘Good Buy to Hunger’ bags as donations for needy individuals and families.

“This is the big push,” says Branch Division Manager Ryan Roy. “It’s held year-round, but the big push is in December.”

Customers are encouraged to donate to food purchases, and the money is used to fill grocery bags specifically identified with the ‘Good Buy to Hunger’ promotion. The average is $20 per bag, adds Roy.

The program runs December 1-31 and as of December 10, the New Horizon Co-op in Falher has sold 66 bags. New Horizon Co-op will match up to $10,000 in donations made by customers purchasing the bags.

All bags sold at the Falher store will be distributed to needy individuals and families in the Smoky River region, through Smoky River Family and Community Support Services.
