Royal Purple provides community support throughout the year, but Royal Purple Day places special emphasis on the organization’s mission of service.
The tradition of Royal Purple Day is a decade’s old tradition of community service in McLennan.
This year, the organization celebrated the Day on Friday June 3 by offering a free hotdog lunch at Ecole Providence.
“I have been a member for over thirty years and I think Royal Purple Day it is over sixty years,” says Maggie Gervais.
“They always did something, like go to the hospital and the nursing home and now we provide a hotdog lunch at Ecole Providence.”
Earlier in the week, Royal Purple presented a $550 cheque to the school to go towards the Providence swimming program.
The Royal Purple has twenty active, fulltime members and all members contribute to the Royal Purple Day event.
“Three young people have also joined us and they help us out whenever they can, by volunteering to do different things,” says Gervais. “Anyone who wants to join the Royal Purple can come over to the meetings, which are all open. We would love to have new members.”
