After their fundraising and rope skipping, the students at Ecole Routhier accumulated $13,052.25, which they have given to the Alberta Heart and Stroke Foundation.
The students fundraised in May for the foundation. Then they participated in a Jump Rope for Heart at the school on May 27.
The finale came on June 6, when Margaret Bell, who works for the Alberta Heart and Stroke Foundation, received the money from the school.
An assembly was held in the main gym in the afternoon and she commended all the students. Two students were recognized for their efforts. Nora Dubrule raised $655 and Kaiden Tardif raised $820. They received certificates for their efforts.
But that wasn’t the end of the event. Later, Natasha Smit gave teacher Dave Gingera a head shave, followed by a beard shave. Gingera smiled as the hair came off strip by strip. When he was finished, the students cheered and roared for his contribution to their fundraising efforts.
