For McLennan resident Shannon Soucy, Canada Day 2016 will be particularly memorable. The mother of two won the TGP Fresh Giveaway at Lakeview Foods in McLennan, allowing her a fifty-second shopping spree up to $500.
The program ran from April to June 6 where shoppers had an opportunity to put their names in for the draw and along with the main prize of the shopping spree, Lakeview foods also gave away six $25 gift cards.
Typically, TGP (The Grocery People) based in Edmonton run some kind of promotion through its stores at this time of year, but this year was a little different.
“This year was kind of neat, because each store got to give away a shopping spree,” says Jason Doris who, with his wife Nadine, owns Lakeview Foods. “Instead of customers entering a draw with 387 stores in western Canada, each store offered the chance to win directly to customers. Going through the names of those who entered the draw, many are people who shop here all the time.”
Soucy was pleased to learn of her good fortune a couple of weeks prior to actually undertaking the shopping spree on the afternoon of July 1.
“I was surprised, I was really happy,” she says. “It was great, awesome; I felt really blessed and really appreciated it.”
With assistance from her daughter Emily, Soucy put the 50-second shopping spree to good use, reaching the checkout with $418.28 in groceries.
