Slave Lake, AB –  Slave Lake RCMP have arrested a Leduc man in relation to two residential break and enters which occurred on August 23, 2016.  29 year old Kevin Giese faces numerous charges in relation to the incidents.  Some of the charges include break enter and theft, using violence during the commission of an offence, possession of stolen property, flight from police and resisting arrest.

The incident began in the early morning hours of August 23, 2016 when an unknown male was observed fleeing from the scene of a residential garage break in, only to be found a short time later committing another break in at a second garage.  The second homeowner attempted to detain man at the scene, and a minor scuffle ensued and the man fled.  The homeowner was not seriously injured.   Police attempted to stop the fleeing vehicle, but in the interest of public safety were unable to apprehend the culprit at the time.  Investigation lead the police to a rural residence, and a search warrant was executed.  The stolen property was recovered but Giese was not apprehended at that time.    On August 26, 2016 the Slave Lake GIS Unit was able to apprehend Giese without incident.  Giese has been remanded in custody, with his first appearance in Slave Lake Provincial Court set for August 31, 2016.

Police wish to remind the public for to be diligent with their efforts of locking doors, garages, and sheds.  Remove valuables, and garage door openers from vehicles, when not driving them.  For increased security consider the motion-sensor lights for darkened areas near your garage or home.
