RCMP investigates break-and-enter in McLennan town office building, library

On Sept. 28, the McLennan RCMP detachment received a report that the McLennan town office and library had been broken into.

The RCMP investigated and they found several outside and inside doors damaged as a result of the break-in.

The incident occurred between 9:30 p.m. on Sept. 27 and 8:30 a.m. on Sept. 28.

The RCMP is offering a few tips to enhance property security. Please remove valuables while you’re away from your vehicle.

To discourage theft, lock the doors of unoccupied vehicles and ensure you have the ignition keys to your vehicle, quad, dirt bike, etc. in your possession.

Please ensure that storage sheds, garages and outbuildings are locked and secured at all times.

If you’re going to be away from your home, please ensure someone is checking on the residence.

The addition of motion sensor lights will also deter property thefts.

The RCMP will continue to patrol local communities in the evening and overnight hours, to discourage property thefts, in an effort to increase public safety.

The RCMP is asking anyone with information regarding these or other incidents of theft, to report them to the police. Information can also be shared anonymously with Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

Alternatively, you can text your tip by typing in the key word “tip 252,” followed by the information and then simply text it to CRIMES (274637).
