Providence Remembrance Day ceremony began with school principal Krista Veitch welcoming students, parents, teachers and especially teh guest of honour Royal Canadian Legion member Yvonne Sawchyn to the school’s commemorative ceremonies.
Grade 6 student, Wyatt Soucy asked everyone to stand for the national anthem, which was followed by the Peace Prayer of St. Francis read by Elizabeth Jordan and Triser Guerrero.
Students Taylor Chalifoux and Allissa Morris read ‘In Flanders Field.’ Grade 5 and 6 students Hope Morris, Kelsey Weaslefatt with Allissa Morris and Taylor Chalifoux made presentations, choosing a veteran from the area, giving that veteran’s name and details of their service.
Students Meia McNeil, Emma Willier, Layton Willier and Kelsey Weaselfatt participated in the laying of the wreath ceremony.
Wyatt Soucy asked everyone to stand for the Last Post followed by a minute of silence and Reveille.
In closing, Veitch thanked Yvonne Sawchyn for attending and praised the kids for their respectful behaviour.
Veitch also asked the students to make a special effort to attend the Remembrance Day ceremony at the Elks Hall the following day.
