Peace River RCMP charge Cadotte Lake man with second-degree murder

Cadotte Lake, Alberta – Members of the RCMP’s Major Crimes Unit – North (MCU – North) have confirmed that Timothy Williams (21) is charged with one count of second-degree murder in relation to the death of Cadotte Lake resident, 26-year-old DeeDee Williams.

Yesterday morning, police received a report of a suspicious death at a residence in Cadotte Lake and when members of the Peace River RCMP Detachment arrived at the home, they found the body of a man. The scene was secured and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the suspicious death was started with MCU – North assuming carriage of the file. Investigators were able to determine DeeDee Williams’ identity during the course of their investigation and had arrested a suspect yesterday, in the early stages of the case.

Earlier today (Oct. 4), an autopsy was completed at the Edmonton Office of the Chief Medical Examiner wherein the manner of death was confirmed to be homicide.

Timothy Williams, also of Cadotte Lake, has been remanded in custody and will make his first appearance in Peace River Provincial Court on Monday, October 17, 2016.

The family of DeeDee Williams has asked that the media and public kindly respect their privacy at this time and allow them the time to grieve their loss.

No additional information or details about this matter will be made available now that it is before court. Should there be a development wherein an updated media release is required, the RCMP will ensure such information is disseminated when appropriate.
