Fifteen children are enrolled in the pond hockey program this fall, which is being held at the Falher Regional Recreation Complex.

“It’s a good number,” says organizer Doreen Brulotte, “a manageable number for one coach.”

Dave Marchildon is the coach, and he works with them on their speed, agility and other skills.

There are 15 children enrolled in the program, ranging in ages from five to 14.

“We cater to kids of all levels and abilities,” adds Brulotte.

The program started in early October and continues until the end of February. Games are planned with pond hockey teams in High Prairie, Eaglesham and Peavine Metis Settlement.

Hockey Alberta and pond hockey

As per the Hockey Alberta website:

“Pond hockey is an innovative program that focuses on participation in a less structured and flexible environment.

“Pond Hockey is played in a fun, safe and non-competitive environment.”
