The engine of a Plains tanker truck, hauling 1075 liquid propane caught on fire in McLennan adjacent to Fas Gas on Highway 2.
On Saturday, November 18, at approximately 5.30pm the Smoky River Fire Department arrived on the scene, containing the fire before extinguishing it safely.
There were no injuries associated with the incident but with a cargo of liquid propane, had the engine fire grown hotter there was certainly the potential for the incident to be more serious.
Though the fire remained a minor incident, the damage to the tractor was extensive and the vehicle was written off.
A tow truck hauled the tractor to Vic’s Car Care and Plains Midstream sent another of its trucks to move the undamaged tankers.
