Alberta Beef Producers
University of Alberta student Emilie Bassi is working on her Master of Science studying Rural Sociology.
She has a long history and interest in sustainable agriculture and is currently working on a research project that is situated within the context of the Earls restaurant chain announcing last April that they would start sourcing all of their beef from certified-humane U.S. suppliers, rather than speaking with producers in Alberta.
The purpose of her research project is to understand the practices and perceptions of farm animal welfare among livestock producers, feedlot owners, and beef processors in both the beef and dairy industries of Alberta.
