On July 22, 2016, Oliva Tardif of Grande Prairie, AB, passed away unexpectedly, surrounded by his loving family.
Oliva was born in Falher, AB on April 23, 1926 to Pantaleon and Angelina Tardif. He came from a large family of nine.
He was raised on a farm, where he met his loving wife Germaine. They were married in Falher, AB on November 19, 1949. Oliva worked very hard all his life. He worked on a sawmill and in camps for many years in Alberta and BC, alongside his wife. In 1971, he moved to Grande Prairie with his wife Germaine and two daughters Diane and Doreen. He worked hard for many years to make sure he provided everything his family needed.
His favorite pastime was playing the fiddle, accompanied by his wife Germaine on the piano. He started playing in many fiddling contests and has a lot of trophies that he accepted with a big smile. He played for many years at the Senior Centre as a volunteer and participated in every Fiddler’s Jamboree in Grande Prairie.
Oliva’s unexpected passing leaves an emptiness in the lives of all who knew his big heart and loved him. Oliva will be in our hearts forever and will be sadly missed by his wife Germaine, daughters Diane and Doreen, four grandchildren and one great-grandson.
We love and miss you Papa!
