Ernest Guindon passed away March 27, 2016 at the age of 84 years. Ernest was born in Girouxville, Alberta, son of Jean-Baptiste Guindon and Helene Champagne, on September 28, 1931.

He worked on the railway, oil rigs and sawmills over the years. However, farming was his passion. Ernest enjoyed his farm and his homestead, in which he lived with his wife of 50 years, Marie-Paule Verreault, until his passing.

Ernest enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, gardening and playing cards, but most of all, spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His sense of humour and storytelling of days gone by will be missed by all.

Ernest is predeceased by his son, Denis; his parents, Jean-Baptiste Guindon and Helene Champagne; his sisters, Pauline and Georgette; and his brother, George. He is survived by his wife, Marie-Paule Verreault; his children, Denise (Stephen), Michel (Tania), Doris (Jerry); and his stepchildren, Harold, Carole (Eric), George (Paulette), Helen (Larry), Raymond (Tanya), Liliane (Ben), and Norman (Holly); his sisters, Therese, Yolande and Jeanne; and brother, Fred; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for the late Ernest Guindon were held April 2, 2016 at Notre Dames des Lourdes in Girouxville, with Father Maurice Marion officiating. Donations can be made to Smoky River Palliative Care Society in McLennan, Alberta.
