Obituary – Eileen Robertson

Eileen Robertson

Eileen Ruth Robertson passed away on June 21, 2021, at the age of 72 years, at the McLennan Sacred Heart Community Health Centre.

Eileen was born to Fred and Myrtle St. Germain in Peace River on June 17, 1949. Eileen married Thomas Robertson on Oct. 10, 1969, and they settled in the Peace Country.

Eileen was a long-time resident of Grimshaw and was an active member of the Shaftsbury Ladies Club and North Peace Stampede Association.

She was the proud mother of two sons: David [Shauna] and Daniel [Carrie] who made her a loving grandma to four grandchildren: Katie, Kirsten, Grady and Riley. She could often be found cheering on her grandkids [some of her favourite pastimes] be it volleyball, highland dance or hockey, where she was referred to as ‘Hockey Grandma’.

She was the eldest of four sisters: Carol [Doug], Balcome, Diane Laliberte and Jacquie [Gary] Minard, and known fondly as Auntie Eileen to many nieces and nephews.

Eileen provided many local children with exceptional childcare through her home and through her employment at the Grimshaw Daycare. Employment opportunities also brought Eileen to work for the Grimshaw KFC where her chicken rivalled all surrounding Kentucky Fried Chicken outlets.

Eileen always had an open door, a full pantry and brewed some damn good coffee. She will be deeply missed by all; however, she is now reunited with her one true love, Tom.

Eileen’s wish was for any donations to be sent to the Stollery Children’s Hospital.

The family would like to recognize the staff at the McLennan hospital whose compassion and kindness was so appreciated during such a difficult time.

Thank you to the staff at the Chapel of Memories for your easy-going assistance during the planning.

To all those who attended the celebration and shared stories with the family, thank you.

The family is very grateful for the expressions of love via hugs, cards, flowers and donations to the Stollery made in Eileen’s name.

A special thank you to Kaylee, Christy, Joe, Viv and Elder Dave for their contributions to make the celebration of life as memorable as the life Eileen lived.

The celebration of life for Eileen was held at the Grimshaw Legion on July 10 and she was interred at the Grimshaw Cemetery beside her beloved Tom. Rest in Peace.
