She was born in Falher on Aug. 26, 1920. Her parents were Joseph Chevrette and Estelle Remillard.

As a young girl, Aldea really liked school, she enjoyed learning and had good grades, she earned many certificates. It saddened her not to be able to attend school after Grade 8, she needed to go to work to helped her widowed mother at home.

Even with all the hard work and bad luck, they always kept their good sense of humour and they knew how to make their own amusement. Having friends and family over for picnics, they played music, sang and danced. Aldea sewed, knitted and crocheted with great pride.

In 1978, Jos and Aldea moved to Girouxville in a brand new seniors apartment. Officially, they were retired and spent much time camping, fishing, hunting and travelling. These were Aldea’s happiest years.

After 52 wonderful years of marriage, Jos passed away of cancer.

Aldea was happy that she lived in town, she could go to the seniors centre for carpet bowling, play cards, do some weaving and also be on the board of directors.

She bought a camperized van and tralleved and camped to her heart’s content.

In December 2005, Aldea moved to the Villa Beausejour in Falher. During her eight-year stay, she was able to play cards and bingo to her heart’s content, and reminisce with friends and relatives from her past. Her last two years were spent at Stonebrook in Grimshaw, as she needed daily care.
