The senior high Vipers basketball teams and the junior boys’ team at Georges P. Vanier faced some competition last week, and lost their games to their respective competitors.

The senior high teams faced the Hillside Cougars of Valleyview in the afternoon of Jan. 16.

In the boys’ game, the Cougars took an early lead and never looked back, winning the game by a lopsided 65-33.

They made all the moves on the Vipers. They took the ball down the court fast and continuously intercepted it from the Vipers.

In the girls’ game, both teams were evenly matched in terms of temp and skill. They struggled for control of the ball for the first two quarters. But later, the Cougars took the initiative and won handily by a score of 35-13.

On Jan. 18, the junior boys Vipers’ team hosted the Roland Michener Junior High Rams. The Rams won in a much closer game of 43-38.
