Staff at the New Horizon Co-op in Falher were out early in the morning of October 13 to fix a pancake breakfast for the public.

It was a fundraiser for KidSport, and they raised $220, which will be combined with the monies raised at the New Horizon Co-op’s other stores on the same day. That money will be distributed on a per capita basis to the KidSport organizations in the region, says Branch Division Manager Ryan Roy.

Says Lynn Farrell, the president of the Smoky Regional KidSport organization:

“We really appreciate New Horizon Co-op’s support for our Smoky River Region KidSport, so that kids can play.”

Smoky River Emergency Services was also at the pancake breakfast. Firefighter provided information about fire safety. This included a brochure about a home fire escape plan. It highlights the need to prepare your home and practicing your escape plan, among other things.

This brochure and others can be obtained from Fire Chief Marcel Maure, and he can be contacted at (780) 837-0911.

Roy commends the fire department for their presence at the pancake breakfast and he wants to continue to partner with them for future events.
