Public Interest Alberta
Public Interest Alberta joined the Minister of Labour for her announcement this morning (June 30) on the roll-out of the government’s plan to implement a $15 per hour minimum wage by 2018.
“I was pleased to join Minister Gray for today’s announcement,” said Executive Director Joel French. “Public Interest Alberta has advocated for a $15 per hour minimum wage for years. The one-dollar increase for most workers and removal of current liquor server rate this year will help Alberta’s low-wage earners when they need it most.
Those working full time should earn enough to support themselves and their families.”
The government also announced today that the minimum wage will increase by $1.40 per hour in 2017 and 2018. “We are pleased that the government has announced the details of its plan over the next two years. “This will allow both workers and employers to better plan for the future,” said French.
