The snow is vanishing fast, however, flooding within the M.D. of Smoky River No. 130 has proven extensive and the public works department is requesting that residents be patient while the repairs are made.

“We’re dealing with 300-600 repairs and making applications for disaster relief,” say Kevin Cymbaluk, the Director of Operations. “It could be in the millions of dollars.”

See the M.D. map at right with the marked spaces where flooding was recorded. This map was up-to-date on May 2.

Work tickets are being issued for every flood site, and all the public works employees are helping with the work.

The M.D. is hiring contractors to assist with the repairs, and WSP is assisting with some of the evaluations.

Check the May 2 edition of the Smoky River Express for photos of the flooding that occurred within the M.D. in late April. Look for more updates on the flooding in the near future.
