During their meeting on June 13, the council for the M.D. of Smoky River No. 130 approved contract for two bridge replacements.
Driedger Construction of La Crete has received the contracts to replace to old bridges at a cost of $381,307.50. The M.D. received a grant under the provincial government’s Strategic Transportation Infrastructure Program, for 75 per cent of the cost.
Council also approved the installation of two temporary oilfield bridges – one at Township Road 772 and Range Road 212 for $205,000, and the other at Township Road 772 and Range Road 213 for $176,000.
Subdivision application
Council approved a farmstead separation for a numbered company, 101138678 Saskatchewan Ltd., located north of Jean Cote at NE 4-80-22-W5M.
Council also approved a separation for Marc and Lise Rochon, and Denis and Lynn Pele, for Part SW 1-76-22-W5M, located at the 5 Star Golf Club.
New electric services
Council approved a new electric service for Claude Sirois’ land, located southeast of McLennan at SE 7-77-19-W5M. They also approved another electric service, this one for Jerry Maisonneuve’s land, located southeast of Guy at NW 17-75-19-W5M.
Big River View Snow Club
Council approved a motion to allow the Big River View Snow Club to retain 25 per cent of the revenue from the season’s passes they sell.
Weed and Pest Inspector appointment, other approvals
Council approved the appointment of Shaun Strom as a weed and pest inspector for the M.D. for 2018.
Council also passed a motion to direct administration to present a draft asset management policy, which would include vision and mission statements. In other news, council approved a management and fee policy for the M.D.’s sandpit south of Donnelly.
Finally, council approved Bylaw No. 18-901, which allows alternative public notification of statutory notices through social media, websites, etc. A public hearing was held before council dealt with the matter and no one spoke for or against it.
