The 2018 McLennan Family Day celebrations are again summarized by the phrase “the best times are always found with friends and family gathered round.”
As in former years, February 18 promises to be a day when families and members of the local community come out to participate in the Family Day events.
An additional feature this year is the “Frosty Fun, Family Run” organized Michel Phillips and the Smoky River Runners.
The run begins at the Elks Hall at 1pm until 2pm.
The family skate at the H.W. Fish Arena takes place at 2pm to 3pm.
A perennial favourite on Family Day is the free family Bingo and prizes at the Elks Hall that happens this year at 3pm to 4.30pm, after which free hotdogs will be available until 5.30pm.
Hot chocolate, coffee, juice and popcorn will also be available in the afternoon from 2pm.
The events planned for later in the evening are the sleigh rides from 5pm to 6.30pm and the bonfire on the lakeshore gets underway at 5pm.
The usually grand finale fireworks display on the lakeshore are scheduled for 7pm.
McLennan Parks and Recreation Board who are one of its sponsors of the event also organize the Family Day celebrations.
Other sponsors are The Royal Purple, Town of McLennan, Dan the Stickman and McLennan Trade and Recreation Fair.
