Town of McLennan Organizational Meeting
At the October 11, 2016 Organizational Meeting Councillor John Nairn was appointed Deputy Mayor.
The appointment of members of Council to various boards also took place at the October 11 meeting:

Heart River Housing – Dwayne Stout.
McLennan Local Recreation Board – Margaret Jacob.
Smoky River Regional Committee – Jason Doris and John Nairn,
Smoky River Ag. Society – Margaret Jacob,
Northern Lakes College /C.E.C. – Gary Fisher.
Smoky River Regional Water Commission – Dwayne Stout and Eckhard Christen.
Smoky River Regional Waste Commission – Dwayne Stout and Eckhard Christen.
McLennan & District Chamber of Commerce – John Nairn.
Physician Recruitment and Retention – Leo Giroux.
Smoky River Emergency Services – Jason Doris and Leo Giroux,
PREDA – Eckhard Christen.
In addition to these appointments was the formation of sub-committees of Council.

Budget sub-committee: Jason Doris, Leo Giroux and Gary Fisher.
Bylaw sub-committee: John Nairn, Eckhard Christen and Dwayne Stout.
Personnel committee: Jason Doris and Gary Fisher.
Kimiwan Campground
On a motion by Councillor Gary Fisher a group rate was set for the Kimiwan Campground at $200 per night with a $200 deposit required at time of booking.

STARS Air Ambulance
A contribution of $2.00 per capita for a total financial contribution of $1,618 to STARS Air Ambulance was approved.

McLennan & District Chamber of Commerce
McLennan & District Chamber of Commerce requested a meeting with McLennan Town Council to discuss town planning and the working relationship between the Town of McLennan and the Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber also expressed interest in raising other topics where Council feels the Chamber can provide constructive input. The meeting is set for November 16, 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chamber.

Curbside Recycling
Council received a letter from the contractor providing the curbside recycling to the residents of McLennan, informing council that effective November 1, 2016 recycling pickup will be on Friday’s instead of Tuesday. Recycling will continue on a bi-weekly pickup schedule with the first scheduled pickup in November on Friday the 11th.
