Delegations
Northern Alberta Railway Museum
A delegation for the Northern Alberta Railway Museum consisting of President – Julien Gervais, Roger Bruneau and Gilbert Demeule, discussed the train station they propose moving from Falher to McLennan. The building was given to the Railway Museum at no cost by Smoky River Tourism.
The plan is to place the station on an insulated 4 ft. foundation with the front of the building facing west and the back of the building facing the existing rail, in keeping with the layout of a typical railway station. The Railway Museum has been ask to reserve a small area of the building for Smoky River Tourism where tourism can display information on all the communities within our region. To assist with funding for the moving of the building the Railway Museum is applying for a CFEP grant. The estimated cost to move the building and hook up utilities is $60,000.
