An ATM is a much-needed service McLennan residents deserve, council told ATB Financial Services reps at a council meeting June 14.

“A bank machine would be nice,” Councillor Dwayne Stout told the delegation that included ATB reps Tracy Gagne, Nizil Lbrahim and Nichole Simard.

The statement was in response to better serve the public during ATB’s temporary closures.

Gagne was surprised the branch did not have a ATM. She asked for council’s help after citing cost was always a consideration before installation.

“Your voice is huge for us fighting for you,” she said.

Councillor Sue Delaurier said she works at the post office and hears all the complaints.

“How come the bank is closed? It would help if we had a bank machine.

“[People] can’t access their money. To old people, that’s a big thing,” she concluded.

Simard also asked for help saying community input is important.

“Let’s keep that pressure on and see if we can get this done.”

Council agreed to write a letter to ATB asking the company in install an ATM at the local branch.
