The McLennan Chamber of Commerce is pursuing some new initiatives to engage the local business community, and encourage constructive dialogue between business people in the area.
One of those initiatives is to invite guest speakers to the McLennan Chamber’s monthly board meetings and open those meetings not just to the Chamber membership but also to anyone who wishes to attend.
The meetings will have a business related theme, and the guest speaker will elaborate on that theme with time for a question and answer period following the presentation.
“We are trying to get Chamber members as well as other business people who might be interested in business establishment and growth,” says Chamber President Joshua Smith. “It will be open to the public to come once a month and get some input into their business.”
The other venture is holding wine and cheese events where local business people can get together to talk about their objectives and mutual concerns in an informal environment hosted by a different business each month.
The first wine and cheese occasion is to take place sometime in February and the Chamber will notify members when a firm date and time have been established.
The wine and cheese events are by invitation only.
The guest speakers will make their presentations at the monthly board meetings, which take place on the second Wednesday of each month.
The wine and cheese events will take place on the Thursday of the same week.
Both events begin at 7pm and run to approximately 9pm.
The McLennan and District Chamber of Commerce have over forty members; Joshua Smith has been in the role of board president since May 2018.
