Manoir du Lac celebrated National Nurses Week giving the residents an opportunity to express their appreciation for all the nurses do on their behalf throughout the year.

The Manoir has 8 nurses all of whom contribute to the care and comfort of its 72 residents.

Following regular Thursday Bingo, everyone enjoyed a piece of cake celebrating the occasion and appropriately inscribed with the words “We love nurses, thanks for all do.”

Nurse Florence Somera, LPN did the honors of cutting the cake accompanied by Lloyd Del Rosario RN, Director of Care and Facility Manager.

Most of those attending the celebration including recreation therapist/coordinator Victoria Patrick wore nurses hats made by the residents the previous day.

National Nursing Week 2016 runs from May 9 to 15 alongside International Nurses Day, with May 12, Florence Nightingale’s birthday, being a pivotal milestone. Florence Nightingale is regarded as the founder of modern professional nursing. Also known as “The Lady with the Lamp,” she gained recognition for her dedication when tending to soldiers during the Crimean War. Following the war she worked tirelessly to raise the status of the nursing profession.
