M.D. council approves motion to apply for FCM grant

During their meeting on Nov. 8, the council for the M.D. of Smoky River No. 130 approved a motion to apply for a grant with the Federation of Canadian Municipalities, for a Municipal Asset Management Program.

The M.D. is applying for $50,000 to develop a plan for all of its municipal assets.

Regional Assessment Review Board Agreement

Council passed all three readings of Bylaw No. 17-896 to establish a Regional Assessment Review Board.

Council also passed a motion to establish the agreement. All give municipalities have to approve this agreement. Both the bylaw and agreement are revisions of a previous bylaw and an agreement.

Two-way radio tower purchase approved

Council passed a motion to purchase an existing two-way radio tower and site from Signum Wireless, in the amount of $30,000.

The tower is located at NE 32-76-20-W5M, south of Donnelly.

SRRED 2018 budget approved

Council approved the Smoky River Regional Economic Development’s budget of $121,500 for 2018. All the other municipal partners have to approve the budget as well.

Subdivision applications approved

Council approved the following subdivision applications:

. SW 22-78-22-W5M, for Leonna Lind, for a farmstead separation north of Girouxville.

. SE 20-77-21-W5M, for J.S. Veraart Contracting, for a farmstead separation south of Falher.

. NW 33-77-22-W5M, for Blanchette Farms, for a farmstead separation north of Girouxville.

. S ½ 2-78-20-W5M, for Mark Beland, for a farmstead separation north of McLennan.

. SW 21-77-19-W5M, for Eleanor Fish and Wendy Atwood, for a farmstead and kennel separation development south of McLennan.

2018 fuel requirements

Council passed a motion to issue tenders for the M.D.’s 2018 fuel requirements.
