During their meeting on April 12, council for the M.D. of Smoky River No. 130 approved $42,116.23 for the Smoky River Regional Airport Authority’s budget for 2016.
The total budget is $115,650 and the other municipalities also have to approve their contributions.
Council approves membership for several organizations
Council approved a motion for the M.D. to join the Northern Transportation Advocacy Alliance and Councillor Marc Bremont will be their representative.
Council also approved a motion to join the High Prairie Forest Resource Advisory Council and Councillor Donald Gosselin will be their representative.
Council also approved the Northwest Alberta Regional Resource Sharing Agreement, which is for fire response, as well as a community partnership grant with Big Lakes Country to purchase bunker gear for firefighters.
Subdivision application for a farmstead separation approved
Council approved a subdivision application for NW 7-77-19-W5M, south of McLennan. It is for a farmstead application submitted by Garant Construction.
Partial closure of a road to public access receives first reading
Council approved first reading for a motion to partially close a public road through NW 30-74-20-W5M, southeast of Guy. The matter now goes to the provincial transportation minister for approval.
Culvert installations tender approved
Council approved the tender of Bad Apple Construction to install culverts over a two-year period. They include centreline culverts, approach culverts and miscellaneous ditching.
Council also approved the annual surplus list that will be published in the Express.
Weed and pest inspector appointments
Council approved the appointment of Phillippe Fournier, Raymond Rey, Claire Valiquette and David Skinner as the weed and pest inspectors for the M.D., for 2016.
